MISSION STATEMENT

Kansas City Food Not Lawns is a group focused on two continuing goals:

  1) growing a local, sustainable, secure food system to respond to rising food prices caused by our current reliance upon a fossil fuel-dependent, industrial food system, and

  2) reducing the impact on the earth's environment caused by the widespread practice of growing costly, non-productive landscapes.

To those ends, we will work together to:

• gain knowledge about sustainable gardening to better use our precious resources as we grow our own food;
• unite with already-existing local and regional grassroots food programs in hopes of attracting the wider community to join in our mission through educational programs;
• share labor and experience in an atmosphere of hope and joy while working to create our sustainable future.
